Erich Schuster tells how his idea of this “combi” blade started:
“My idea was the following: usually combi blades have a soft wood on backhand and carbon on forehand. I challenged Claudio to make something different. As antispin and pimples out rubbers work better with a stiff blade I asked one with carbon on the backhand under a stiff layer as rosewood; On the other hand I wanted a softer wood on forehand, a couple of elastic layers to give more spin to topspins, differently from Donic Cayman that is very good on backhand but “like a stone” on the forehand.
The result is what Claudio kindly called “Schuster Combi”, that I tested and I’m using now. With the stiff backhand I can play fast and precise shots and the antispin/pimples out rubbers work at their best.
Thanks to the 3.5 mm inner balsa layer the control is very good. The soft forehand works as it was expected.
In summary I’d describe this blade a new combi wood that satisfies every needs of a close-to-the-table player; I think it will give many satisfactions to this kind of players.”
